In Egypt, the military refused to do anything to the people in the crowd. Pointed tanks away from the people. I imagine cops turn toward the crowd. But it seems that in London they are "riots" not an "uprising" so they are more destructive. I have attended a few "demonstrations" in the US. They were anti rallies in DC, Boston and Maine (at Bush's place in Kennebunkport). They were all peaceful hippy-like in nature but seeing a line of cops blocking off an area is intimidating but, yes, it also made me angry. But because we were peaceful in nature, the demonstrations got no press. (That, and our press is interconnected with the machine.) What I don't get is when a group is mad at the gov't or or something and then they turn on each other. People attacking each other in London, women getting raped in Egypt, that sort of thing. It's a weird dynamic that happens with crowds. Some switch is flipped in the human and rational thought goes out the window and mob mentality takes over. ANyhow, I have no real POINT here.
