A dilemma I am usually a very social person, I have my own hobbies, I do well in class, I have friends, and I can always find something to do on the town. But I seem to have a dilemma; there never seems to be any girls in my life that I find myself in relationships with. This wouldn't be a problem, but recently it seems like this has been driving my work ethic into the wall, and keeping me demotivated from doing a lot of the things I would like to keep a routine with. Although I can start to build relationships with the girls around me, I believe I am stuck in a cycle where after I have something going, I feel remotivated, and then end up throwing myself back at projects and other things I enjoy doing. This is a good thing, but unfortunately, my hobbies are mostly projects that I start on, and that last several months and are very labor intensive, and rather obtuse to the layperson. Simply, they're hard for people to help/relate with me on. Usually, I end up becoming distanced from whomever I was around, I am fine for a couple of weeks, and then wind up at base one.
Many girls I have gone back to, and have known for years in this cycle. I have never left on bad terms, but this cycle wears even on friendships, and over time it seems like there are fewer girls to approach. It doesn't help that I avoid talking about myself as a virtue, or that my academic and professional goals are at odds with the sort of individuals that my non work oriented hobbies bring me around. In short, I used to really like to get fucked up, and hell man, I get down. Although I don't really associate with that crowd regularly anymore, and am usually sober, I'll say the music was really good, and I still enjoy a lot of electronic/metal/rock/psychadelic/funk you name it, enjoy going to fests/shows/etc. This sort of dichotomy, along with the fact there aren't many girls in my major, means the majority of those I meet I don't really have anything in common with more than general interests, and I'm not willing to devote a large amount of time just chilling and getting fucked up with them.
So, a dilemma. I would really like to find a girl that relates to this, or even someone that is just fine with it, but mostly I would like to get out of this cycle. It would be a relationship/friendship with the understanding of time constraints. Also, I do not want sex on the first date, I imagine starting by just having someone to occasionally talk to, go out for a few hours, make out and feel intimate with.
